அணுகுண்டுகள் வீசப் படும்வரை அவர் உறங்காமல் விழித்துக் கொண்டே இருந்தார். போடப்பட்டது தெரிந்த பிறகுதான் தூங்கப் போனார் ட்ருமேன்!
மறுநாள் காலையில் பத்திரிகையாளர்கள் அவரைச் சூழ்ந்து கொண்டு முதலில் கேட்ட கேள்வி இதுதான்:
“இரண்டு லட்சம் பேரைக் கொன்ற பிறகு, உங்களால் நிம்மதியாகத் தூங்க முடிந்ததா?”
ஜனாதிபதி ட்ரூமன், “ஓ, நிம்மதியாகத் தூங்கினேனே! சில மாதங்களுக்குப் பிறகு நேற்றுத்தான் நான் நன்றாகத் தூங்கினேன். காரியம் கச்சிதமாக முடிந்துவிட்டது. இனி ஜப்பான் சரணடைய வேண்டியதுதான். தகவல் வந்ததும் நான் மிகவும் திருப்தியடைந் தேன். இரவு முழுவதும் ஒருமுறை கூட விழிக்காமல் நிம்மதி யாகத் தூங்கினேன்,” என்றார்.
சுரணயற்ற மனிதர்கள் இப்படித்தான் இருப்பார்கள்.பலம் மிக்கவர்களுக்கு எந்த உணர்வுகளும் இருக்காது. மனிதர்களின் தலையை வெட்ட முற்படும்போது, அவனுக்கு இரண்டாவது யோசனை வருவதே இல்லை.
அப்படிப்பட்ட மனிதனின் பெயர் “ட்ரூமேன்!” அன்றுமுதல் அந்த மனிதனை நான் 'அன் ட்ரூமேன்' (உண்மையற்ற மனிதன்) என்றுதான் குறிப்பிட்டு வருகிறேன்.
மற்றொரு மனிதர் ஜார்ஜ் பெர்னாட்ஷா.
இந்த நூற்றாண்டின் மிகப்பெரிய மனிதர் ஜார்ஜ் பெர்னாட்ஷா.
ஓவியப் படைப்பாளியும், நாவலாசிரியருமான ஒருவர் அவரைப் பார்க்க வந்திருந்தார்.
ஷாவின் வீட்டுத் தோட்டத்தில் பூக்கள் பூத்துக் குலுங்கின. அவருடைய அறைக்குள் சென்றபோது அங்கே ஒரு பூ கூடக் காணப்படவில்லை.

மற்றவர்கள் வெட்டுண்ட மரக்கிளைகள் - அவர்களு டன் அமர்ந்திருந்தால், நீங்கள் வற்றிப் போய்விட்டதாக ஒரு வினோத உணர்வுதான் தோன்றும்.

இந்தியாவின் முதல் நோபல் பரிசு பெற்ற விஞ்ஞானி ஜகதீஷ் சந்திரபோஸ், மரம் செடி கொடிகளுக்கு உயிருண்டு என்று நிரூபித்தவர். அதற்காகவே அவருக்கு நோபல் பரிசு வழங்கப்பட்டது. அதற்குப் பிறகு அவருக்கு எத்தனையோ அனுபவங்கள்.
விஞ்ஞானிகள் மரத்தோடு இணைக்கப்பட்ட அளவுமானி ஒன்றை பொருத்திவிட்டார்கள். ஒரு மனிதன் அன்புடன் மரத்தை நெருங்கும்போது, மரம் மகிழ்ந்து உள்ளுக்குள் ஆடுவதை அளவுமானி காட்டியது! காகிதத்தில் காணப்பட்ட கோடுகள் அழகு தருவதாக மாறிவிட்டன.
ஒருவர் கோடரியுடன் நெருங்கும்போது, வெட்டும் நோக்கத் தோடு வரும்போது, அவன் அருகில் வராவிட்டாலும் கூட 'கார்டியோகிராம்' கருவியில் கோடுகள் தாறுமாறாய் ஓடின. அது எல்லா ஒழுங்கையும் இழந்துவிட்டது.

விஞ்ஞானிகள் இன்னொன்றையும் கண்டுபிடித்தார்கள். ஒரு மரம் பயத்தால் நடுங்கினால், அருகிலுள்ள மற்ற மரங்களும் நடுங்கும் என்பதைக் கண்டறிந்தார்கள். இதை அவர்கள் கொஞ்சம் கூட எதிர்பார்க்கவில்லை.

புத்தர் நடந்து செல்லும்போது மொட்டை மரங்கள் துளிர்விட்டாதாக சொல்லப்படுகிறது. அது உவமையாக இருக்கலாம். அல்லது உண்மையாகவும் இருக்கலாம்.
இயல்பாகவே உங்கள் இதயம் உங்கள் இருப்பு பிரவகிக்க தயாராக இருக்கின்றது நீங்கள் தான் அதை மறைத்து வைக்கிறீர்கள், அடக்கி வைக்கிறீர்கள்.
கவிஞர்கள் சிற்பிகள் ஓவியர்கள் இசைவாணர்கள் போன்றவர்கள் போராடும் உலகோடு இருக்கவில்லை. கோடிக்கணக்கில் சம்பாதிக்கவும் விரும்புவதில்லை இப்படிப்பட்டவர்களிடம் மட்டுமே கொஞ்சம் உணர்வுகள் ஒட்டிக் கொண்டிருக்கின்றன.
நீங்கள் உண்மையற்ற மனிதராக இருக்கக்கூடாது.
உண்மையுள்ள மனிதராக மாற வேண்டும்.
நீங்கள் மரங்கள் மீதும், மலைகள் மீதும், ஆறுகள் மீதும், கடல்கள், விண்மீன்கள் மீதும், முழு உலகின் மீதும் காதல் கொண்டு விடும் போது, உங்கள் உணர்வுகளையும் அன்பையும் நட்பையும் பாசத்தையும் நீங்கள் மற்றவர்களுடன் பகிர்ந்து கொள்ளும்போது,
நீங்கள் ஒரு உண்மையுள்ள மனிதராக,ஞானி ஆவதற்கான குறிக்கோளை மிகவும் நெருங்கி கொண்டிருக்கிறீர்கள் என்பதாக அர்த்தம்.
