என்று பலராலும் அறியப்பட்ட அமெரிக்க நாவலாசிரியரின் இயற்பெயர் சாம்வெல் க்ளெமென்ஸ் (SAMUEL LANGHORNE CLEMENS).

 மார்க் ட்வெய்ன் பயணக் கட்டுரைகளையும் எழுதினார். பெரிய நகைச்சுவை எழுத்தாளர்.

     அமெரிக்காவில் மிஸ்ஸௌரி என்னும் இடத்தில் பிறந்தார். அவர் பிறந்தபோது ஹாலியின் வால் நட்சத்திரம் தோன்றியது. அடுத்தாற்போல ஹாலியின்(Halley’s Comet)  வால் நட்சத்திரம் வருகையில் இறந்தும் விடுவோம் என்று அவருக்கு உள்ளுணர்வு உணர்த்தியது. அதுபோலவே 1835-இல்  தோன்றிய வால்நட்சத்திரம் 1910-இல் —– திரும்பி வந்தபோது அவர் இறந்தார்.எண்ணம்தான் எல்லாமே...

என்பதை இவர் வாழ்க்கை

1865ஆம் ஆண்டில் அவர் உலகப்பயணம் மேற்கொண்டார். பயணக் கட்டுரை எழுதுவதே இவரின் குறிக்கோள்...

  Mark Twain also wrote travel essays.  Great comedian.

      Born in Missouri, USA.  Holly's comet appeared when he was born.  The next thing he knew was that Halley’s Comet would die when the comet arrived.  Similarly, the comet that appeared in 1835 died in 1910 when he returned.
