Goddess Matangi is one of the Dasa Mahavidyas. She is a manifestation of Goddess Parvati. Matangi Jayanti is believed to be the day when she made her appearance on earth. Matangi Jayanti 2021 date is May 14. It is observed on the Vaishakh Shukla Paksha Tritiya – third day during the waxing phase of moon in Vaishakh month as per traditional Hindu calendar in North India.
The skin color of Goddess Matangi is greenish blue. She is associated with Tantra Kriyas. She is associated with magic and Indrajal. She is the custodian of the complete knowledge of Tantra. She is the goddess associated with all forms of sound, music and fine arts. She is also associated with Sidh Vidya.
With her sound, she controls all living beings and keeps a check on those who are inclined towards Adharma.
She is also associated with Vashikaran and Sammohan Vidya.
On earth, Goddess Matangi is the daughter of Matang Muni.
She is also known as Ucchista Chandalini.
She has three eyes and four arms. She wears crescent moon on her head.
She holds veena and skull in the right hands. The upper left hand holds sword and the lower left hand is in Abhaya Mudra. Sometimes she is depicted as having eight arms.
She is always seen with a parrot.
She keeps chanting the Beeja Mantra Hreem.
She is propitiated by couples having sexual compatibility and other problems.
She also fulfills desires related to sex and love.
This form of Mother Goddess Shakti is only worshipped in very rare temples.
Some scholars also associate Goddess with Madurai Meenakshi who is worshipped at the famous Madurai Temple in Tamil Nadu.

The popular legend associated with Goddess Matangi suggests that she took the form to teach Shiva a lesson as he had tried to trick her through a change in his form.
Legend has it that Goddess Parvati once went to her father’s home. Shiva could not tolerate the absence of Goddess Parvati. He grew jealous and took the form of an ornament vendor and visited the palace of Parvati’s father.
Goddess Parvati brought some bangles from the vendor. When asked its price, the vendor asked to pay it with sexual favors. Goddess Parvati immediately recognized that the merchant was Shiva who was to test her fidelity. She agreed to do sexual favors but at an appropriate time.
To teach Shiva a lesson, Goddess Parvati appeared in the form of a Chandala Girl – a member of the hunter community – before Shiva while he was doing his evening prayers.
To attract Shiva, she performed a seductive dance. Enamored by her beauty, Shiva enquired who she was. She said she reached the spot searching Shiva and she was attracted by his beauty.
Shiva and the Chandala Girl then decided to make love. But during the love making, Goddess Parvati transformed him into a Chandala. Immediately, Shiva realized that the girl was Goddess Parvati.
Goddess Parvati then said that this will be one of her permanent forms and she will also be known as Ucchista Chandalini.

Goddess Matangi
Matangi is the ninth of the ten Mahavidya Goddesses. Like Goddess Saraswati, She governs speech, music, knowledge and the arts. Hence Goddess Matangi is also known as Tantric Saraswati.
Although Goddess Matangi is compared with Goddess Saraswati, She is often associated with pollution and impurity. She is considered an embodiment of Ucchishta (उच्छिष्ट) which means leftover food in hands and the mouth. Hence, She is also known as Ucchishta Chandalini and Ucchishta Matangini. She is described as an outcaste and offered left-over and partially eaten food i.e. Ucchishta to seek her blessings.

There are several legends which are associated with Goddess Matangi. Once, Lord Vishnu and Goddess Lakshmi visited Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati. A feast was arranged by Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati in honor of visiting couple.
While eating, the deities dropped some of the food on the ground. A beautiful maiden arose from dropped food who asked for their left-overs. The four deities granted her their left-overs as Prasad.

Goddess Matangi is often represented as emerald green in complexion. Goddess Matangi is depicted with four arms in which She holds a noose, sword, goad and a club. She is portrayed in red dress and adorned with golden jewelry. She is shown sitting on a golden seat. In Raja Matangi form, She is portrayed with the Veena along with a parrot.
Matangi Sadhana
Goddess Matangi Sadhana is prescribed to acquire supernatural powers, especially gaining control over enemies, attracting people to oneself, acquiring mastery over the arts and gaining supreme knowledge.

மாதாங்கி தேவி தாச மகாவித்யாக்களில் ஒருவர். அவள் பார்வதி தேவியின் வெளிப்பாடு. மாதங்கி ஜெயந்தி பூமியில் தோன்றிய நாள் என்று நம்பப்படுகிறது. மாதங்கி ஜெயந்தி 2021 தேதி மே 14. இது வைசாக் சுக்லா பக்ஷ திரித்தியாவில் அனுசரிக்கப்படுகிறது - வட இந்தியாவில் பாரம்பரிய இந்து நாட்காட்டியின்படி வைஷாக் மாதத்தில் நிலவின் வளர்பிறை கட்டத்தில் மூன்றாம் நாள்.
மாதாங்கி தேவியின் தோல் நிறம் பச்சை நீலமானது. அவள் தந்திர கிரியாஸுடன் தொடர்புடையவள். அவள் மந்திரம் மற்றும் இந்திரஜலுடன் தொடர்புடையவள். தந்திரத்தின் முழுமையான அறிவின் பாதுகாவலர் அவள். அவர் அனைத்து வகையான ஒலி, இசை மற்றும் நுண்கலைகளுடன் தொடர்புடைய தெய்வம். அவளும் சித் வித்யாவுடன் தொடர்புடையவள்.

மாதாங்கி தேவி தாச மகாவித்யாக்களில் ஒருவர். அவள் பார்வதி தேவியின் வெளிப்பாடு. சில அறிஞர்கள் அவளை மதுரை மீனாட்சியுடன் தொடர்புபடுத்துகிறார்கள். மாதங்கி தேவியுடன் தொடர்புடைய பிரபலமான புராணக்கதை, சிவாவின் வடிவத்தில் ஒரு மாற்றத்தின் மூலம் அவளை ஏமாற்ற முயற்சித்ததால் சிவாவுக்கு ஒரு பாடம் கற்பிக்க அவர் அந்த வடிவத்தை எடுத்தார் என்று கூறுகிறது.
பார்வதி தேவி ஒரு முறை தனது தந்தையின் வீட்டிற்குச் சென்றதாக புராணக்கதை. பார்வதி தேவி இல்லாததை சிவனால் பொறுத்துக்கொள்ள முடியவில்லை. அவர் பொறாமைப்பட்டு ஒரு ஆபரண விற்பனையாளரின் வடிவத்தை எடுத்து பார்வதியின் தந்தையின் அரண்மனைக்குச் சென்றார்.
பார்வதி தேவி விற்பனையாளரிடமிருந்து சில வளையல்களைக் கொண்டு வந்தார். அதன் விலையைக் கேட்டபோது, விற்பனையாளர் அதை பாலியல் உதவியுடன் செலுத்தச் சொன்னார். பார்வதி தேவி உடனடியாக அந்த வணிகர் சிவன் என்பதை உணர்ந்தார், அவர் தனது நம்பகத்தன்மையை சோதிக்க இருந்தார். அவர் பாலியல் உதவி செய்ய ஒப்புக்கொண்டார், ஆனால் ஒரு பொருத்தமான நேரத்தில்.
சிவனுக்கு ஒரு பாடம் கற்பிக்க, பார்வதி தேவி ஒரு சந்தலா பெண் வடிவத்தில் - வேட்டைக்காரர் சமூகத்தைச் சேர்ந்தவர் - சிவன் முன் தனது மாலை தொழுகையைச் செய்துகொண்டிருந்தார்.
