Guru

[7/21, 6:39 PM] jagadeeshkrishnan: The word ‘guru’ is untranslatable. Neither does the word ‘teacher’ nor the word ‘Master’ have that beauty. In fact, the phenomenon of the guru is so deeply Indian that no other language of any country is capable of translating it. It is something intrinsically Eastern. The word ‘guru’ is made of two words, ‘gu’ and ‘ru’. ‘Gu’ means darkness; ‘ru’ means one who dispels it. Guru literally means ‘the light’. And you have the light within you, yes! If you come across a Buddha or a Jesus or a Krishna or a Mahavir, it will be of tremendous help to you in finding your inner guru, because seeing Buddha, suddenly a great enthusiasm and hope will arise in you: 'If it can happen to Buddha'- who is just like you, the same body, the same blood, bone, marrow – 'if it can happen to this man, why not to me?' The hope is the beginning. Meeting with the Master on the outside is the beginning of a great hope, a great aspiration.

[7/21, 6:39 PM] jagadeeshkrishnan: ‘குரு’ என்ற சொல் மொழி பெயர்க்க முடியாதது.  ‘ஆசிரியர்’ என்ற சொல்லுக்கோ, ‘மாஸ்டர்’ என்ற சொல்லுக்கோ அந்த அழகு இல்லை.  உண்மையில், குருவின் நிகழ்வு மிகவும் ஆழமானது, எந்த நாட்டிலும் வேறு எந்த மொழியும் அதை மொழிபெயர்க்க முடியாது.  இது உள்ளார்ந்த கிழக்கு ஒன்று.  ‘குரு’ என்ற சொல் ‘கு’, ‘ரு’ ஆகிய இரு சொற்களால் ஆனது.  ‘கு’ என்றால் இருள்;  ‘ரு’ என்றால் அதை அகற்றுபவர்.  குரு என்றால் 'ஒளி' என்று பொருள்.  உங்களுக்குள் ஒளி இருக்கிறது, ஆம்!  புத்தரையோ, இயேசுவையோ, கிருஷ்ணரையோ, மகாவீரரையோ நீங்கள் சந்தித்தால், உங்கள் அகக் குருவைக் கண்டுபிடிப்பதில் அது உங்களுக்குப் பெரும் உதவியாக இருக்கும், ஏனென்றால் புத்தரைப் பார்த்தவுடன், திடீரென்று உங்களுக்குள் ஒரு பெரிய உற்சாகமும் நம்பிக்கையும் எழும்: 'அது நடக்குமானால்.  புத்தருக்கு'- உங்களைப் போன்றவர் யார், அதே உடல், அதே இரத்தம், எலும்பு, மஜ்ஜை - 'இந்த மனிதனுக்கு அது நடக்குமானால், எனக்கு ஏன்?'  நம்பிக்கைதான் ஆரம்பம்.  வெளியில் மாஸ்டருடன் சந்திப்பது ஒரு பெரிய நம்பிக்கையின் ஆரம்பம், ஒரு பெரிய அபிலாஷை.
